Fiji Men’s 7s outclass South Africa 33-14 to finish 5th at the HK 7s

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side outclassed South Africa 33-14 in the HSBC Hong Kong 7s 5th place playoff to claim the 5th spot tonight.

Fiji looked a much more improved side in that game scoring 3 quick tries inside 3 minutes through Waisea Nacuqu, Jeremaia Matana and Joseva Talacolo with Napolioni Bolaca converting two of those tries to lead 19-0.

South Africa replied with a converted try in the 5th minute through Shilton Van Wyk to trail 19-7.

Fiji led 19-7 at halftime.

Fiji was awarded a penalty try in the 9th minute after a foul play by South Africa that prevented Fiji from scoring a try before winger Vuiviwa Naduvalo scored the final try for Fiji with captain Vatemo Ravouvou adding the conversion to lead 33-7.

South Africa scored a consolation try in the 12th minute through Kat Letebele with the conversion from Shaun Williams successful.

The Men’s Cup Final between NZ and France will kick off at 10.53 tonight.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side also finished 5th in the Women’s category after defeating Canada 19-15 in the 5th place playoff tonight.

The Women’s Cup Final between NZ and the USA will be at 10.13 tonight.
