This year’s Fiji Fashion Week theme which is Gold will be a challenge for most of the designers.
This was highlighted by top designer, Hupfeld Hoerder who won three of the four awards at the 2016 Fiji Fashion Week.
Hoerder won the Textile Design Award, Special Achievement and the Established Design Award.
He says the designers will have to try and merge gold with other types of fabric this year.
Hoerder says his designs this year will still be a bridal collection but it will feature the evolution of fashion through time from the 1800's to the 1900's.
Hoerder says another challenge for the designers is the availability of raw material like fabric, paint and accessories, as they are not manufactured in Fiji.
He adds the upcoming designers do not have access to funds and this is also a challenge for them to start their career.
The Fiji Fashion Week will be held on Monday the 22nd of May to Saturday the 27th of May at the Vodafone Arena.
