The Fiji Corrections Service undertook a nationwide roadside cleanup campaign as part of its Civic Pride exercise for both inmates and officers this morning.
Around 105 inmates with over 70 officers were involved altogether from 15 Correction Centres around the country.
Deputy Commissioner of Corrections Senior Superintendent Apimeleki Taukei says this was a form of giving back to the community by cleaning up the environment.
Taukei says this is all part and parcel of programs they have in place as they countdown to the annual Yellow Ribbon Walk scheduled for October 12 in Lautoka.
He says they plan to have another one before the walk next month.
The annual Yellow Ribbon Walk will be held for the first time in the Western Division in response to the high offending rate experienced in the division in the last 8‑months.
