Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation clarifies stance on National Minimum Wage increase
Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation CEO Nesbitt Hazelman

The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation today clarified its stance on the National Minimum Wage saying it welcomes a review that will be done in consultation with government, Trade Unions and Employer organisations.

CEO Nesbitt Hazelman says their position in setting minimum wages is that there needs to be a sound formula that considers the cost of living.

Hazelman says there is also a real need to consider those who operate in the micro and small enterprises as their ability to earn is lower.

The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation has also called for employers who are seen to be paying below the minimum wage to be held accountable.
