A $5090 cheque has been handed over to the Fiji Cancer Society by Telecom Fiji Limited to assist the organisation in their awareness programs and buying medicine for those who cannot afford.
Speaking during their Pinktober event, TFL’s General Manager Corporate Services and Human Resources, Samuela Vadei says about $3000 was raised by TFL’s staff through voluntary contributions and pay deductions while the rest was from the company’s profit.
Vadei says they have two sessions in a year by experts to raise awareness for their staff.
Speaking on behalf of the Fiji Cancer Society, Consultant General Surgeon at the CWM Hospital, Doctor Losalini Tabakei says women usually hide their pain to fulfill their duties.
She says they have seen women in their 20’s leaving their children behind and has urged women to visit their nearest health centre if they see any symptoms.
