The Fiji Cancer Society has revealed that it has assisted 168 new cancer patients with the services provided by the Society in 2018.
Fiji Cancer Society CEO Belinda Chan says that this will add to the 990 cancer patients that the society currently assists from 2017.
It was also highlighted that 68 new cases of breast cancer were recorded so far this year.
Chan says a total of $174,000 has been received through the Fiji Cancer Society Pinktober Campaign this year adding that they are also still collecting donations from various organisations.
Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete earlier revealed that 128 breast cancer surgeries have been conducted at CWM Hospital so far this year.
Chan says that one of the highly rated messages in fighting breast cancer is early detection and people should know that in Fiji, they are able to treat the early forms of breast cancer which leads to higher long term survival rate.
