Fiji Airways has leased an A-330 aircraft from the Etihad Airlines for a term of 4 years.
While officiating at the naming ceremony for newly leased aircraft, the Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum has also announced that the new aircraft will be named Beqa.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says the naming is very significant as the island has never had an aircraft named after it and this will be the first time that the people of Beqa will be seeing the name of their island on an aircraft.
He also highlighted that Fiji airways now flies to every continent that rims the Pacific Ocean except South America and will soon be flying to Japan in July.
Sayed-Khaiyum says a company like Fiji airways is at the forefront of marketing Fiji as it is the only company from Fiji that people will see in major cities around the world.
He also acknowledged the staff of Fiji Airways who have worked very hard to ensure Fiji is able to have these aircrafts adding that our national carrier markets Fiji as a people and as a country.
