Fiji Airways has upgraded its in-flight service from today.
The airline announced the new catering concepts today as part of the changes to its onboard products which include Inflight Entertainment, Inflight Duty Free and Inflight Magazine which will be rolled out in stages.
Fiji Airways has now removed its previous boxed‑presentation concept and most of the burger and wrap selections.
It will re‑introduce tray service with hot meals in its Economy Class from today on flights to Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific and a more substantial and higher quality snack on short haul flights.
Flights to Los Angeles and Hong Kong will see two hot meals in Economy Class.
The Business Class menu and service elements have all been upgraded for premium travelers.
A signature welcome cocktail and mocktail will also be introduced in partnership with Fiji Rum.
These business class changes come into effect on the 1st of September.
CEO Stephan Pichler said they have received numerous complaints about their inflight services like poor quality, choice and meal presentation, especially “lunch box concept” and burgers, inconsistency in inflight entertainment, no decent inflight magazine to read and weak duty free product offering.
He added they are working with the Fiji Chefs Association for development of future meal specifications.
A new 90‑page magazine called Fiji Time with travel features and articles on journeying to and within Fiji as well as other Fiji Airways and Fiji Link destinations will be part of the new upgrade.
A publication run of 25,000 copies is produced for a two month‑cycle in partnership with Mai Life magazine.
Fiji Airways has also signed a full concession service contract with Hong Kong based King Power Traveler (KPT) for the provision of an inflight duty free sales service onboard their entire international fleet.
