A consistent on-time performance has been reported for December last year by Fiji Airways and Pacific Sun.
A statement from the airline reports that their on-time performance compared to November, reflects the predicted slight seasonal dip in the cyclone season, while Pacific Sun again delivered sterling results for the month.
A 78% on-time performance rate was recorded for December by the national airline, compared to 77.5% for November, and 88.3% in October.
Meanwhile, a hydraulic leak and a bird strike affected two Fiji Airways aircrafts in late December, along with weather restrictions which caused delays on some consequent services.
Pacific Sun, the domestic and regional subsidiary, reported an outstanding on-time performance of 93.5% for December, compared to 88% in November, and 93.4% in October.
Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, said most of the delay causes in December were due to mechanical issues out of their control, and the maintenance and engineering team worked hard over the holidays to keep the delays to a minimum.
Pichler added Pacific Sun is in for a big year with the arrival of a brand new ATR 72 aircraft to their fleet and their brand change to ‘FIJI LINK’ by midyear.
