Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber says when the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, they would like to have some games with local 7s clubs.
Baber says he understands that they have not played any matches since the COVID-19 restrictions and since there are many 7s clubs in the country, he wants to see his players be challenged in different ways.
He says he wants to see them go out of their way to develop for themselves and generate their self-awareness on how to get better utilizing their options with the 7s program, working with other coaches to see which players have the potential and putting them under pressure physically and mentally, test their rugby skills and knowledge to see how players manage it.
He adds this opportunity is something a lot of countries will want to have, its just a matter of when and how they will use it.
In the meantime, Fijian 7s players are following through their training plans provided to them and are in regular catch-ups with Baber in their social media group.
London and Paris 7s are expected to take place in September while the Hong Kong and Singapore 7s will be held in October.
