Fiji 7s team proud to carry expectations of all Fijians

The Team Fiji Men’s 7s team is proud to carry the expectations of all Fijians at the Rio Olympic Games 2016.

Captain Osea Kolinisau told ABC Radio that it is inspiring to feel the pressure of an entire nation expecting a win.

He says sevens rugby is special in Fiji because it creates unity.

Team Fiji in Rio is calling on all Fijians to strengthen their support for the Fiji Men's 7s team as it enters one of the most important weeks in its history.

Team Fiji Chef De Mission Cathy Wong says the mission for the Fiji 7s team is a gold medal and all Fijians should offer positive support to help achieve this.

Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan says a gold medal win will have the potential to create a lot of positive changes in Fiji.

The Fiji men’s 7s side will take on Brazil in their first Rio Olympics pool game at 4.30am Wednesday, they will then face Argentina at 9.30am Wednesday before taking on USA at 4.30am Thursday.

The quarterfinals will start at 8am Thursday, the semis will start at 5.30am Friday and the final will kick off at 10am Friday.
