While Suva and Nausori has been under lockdown since 11pm last night, a lot less people are out and about in Lautoka and Nadi containment areas.
Nadi based businesswoman, Rina Kumar says about 6 major supermarkets are open but there are not many people in the town as people must have done their shopping earlier in the week and may not even have the money to come to town.
She says people are following the Ministry of Health’s directives except a couple of people who were seen hugging on the streets.
Kumar says enforcement is not an issue as Police officers are on the streets to ensure that people are following the directives.
Police spokesperson, Savaira Tabua says apart from Suva and Nausori there is also an increased presence in containment areas where they will be stopping such breaches.
Meanwhile, Lautoka resident, Narayan Reddy says the City is not that busy and even the lines to collect government assistance of $90 is shorter compared to other days.
He says people are complying with the Ministry of Health’s orders where people are social distancing, wearing masks and are practicing good hygiene.
Reddy says the Ministry has done a very good job in advising people.
He says people of Lautoka have learnt a lesson as it was one of the first cities to be under lockdown and the people know the impact of it and the hardships they have faced.
