Former National Federation Party proposed candidate Feroz Gulam Mohammed is still being questioned by Police at the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters.
He was taken in for questioning yesterday.
Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro has confirmed that this is in regards to his social media posts and alleged seditious comments.
Mohammed’s Facebook account had a post in September last year which said that that was the best time for a military coup.
Under the Crimes Act, a seditious intention is an intention to bring into hatred or contempt or to excite disaffection against the government of the Republic of Fiji.
A person commits an indictable offence if the person prints, publishes, sells, offers for sale, distributes or reproduces any seditious publication.
