The General Secretary of the National Workers Union, Felix Anthony's lawyer has told the Suva Magistrates Court this morning that he intends to make an application to drop charges against Anthony.
Filimoni Vosarogo has told the court that he will be writing a letter of representation to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in two days and will be waiting for a response in two weeks.
Anthony also told the court that his laptop and phone has not been returned to him since it was confiscated in May this year.
Vosarogo says a letter was written by the DPP to the Police to return the items and it was acknowledged by the Police however they have yet to receive the items.
Magistrate Waleen George told Vosarogo to follow up with the Police and he has an option to file a complaint with the Police Complaints Unit.
Anthony has pleaded not guilty to a count of malicious acts.
It is alleged that Anthony spread by word of mouth false news relating to the expiry of Water Authority of Fiji worker contracts to Fiji Times reporter Felix Chaudhry which tended to create or foster public anxiety.
The alleged incident happened on 26th April this year.
Anthony's bail has been extended.
The case has been adjourned to the 31st of January next year.
