Father of music legends Michael and Janet Jackson passes away at 89

Joe Jackson, the father of music legends Michael and Janet Jackson, has passed away at age 89.

A person close to the family has confirmed to the BBC that Jackson passed away early this morning after he had been in hospital for terminal pancreatic cancer.

His death comes just two days after the anniversary of his son Michael Jackson's death nine years ago.

He is survived by his wife Katherine, who is 88, and nine of his 11 children.
