A father and his 12-year-old son are alleged to be the country's latest drowning victims.
Police say a 38-year-old carpenter of Tadra, Votualevu and his 12-year-old son allegedly drowned while trying to cross the Tabarua River in Nasau yesterday evening.
The two were trying to cross the river to get to their home in Tadra, Votualevu despite being allegedly warned not to, due to the strong currents.
Their bodies were recovered this morning.
Investigations are underway.
We again stress to people not to go out into flooded areas.
Please heed the advice of the authorities.
