A fast and brutal contest is expected in tonight's game 1 of the State of Origin between the NSW Blues and the Queensland Maroons where whoever makes the least amount of errors and has the best discipline will come out victorious.

The Blues’ defence will be hugely physical early, as it will need to be, but the Maroons are looking to utilise their game breakers to bust the Blues’ defence open in the second half.

Both teams are missing their best halves, with Nathan Cleary (Blues) and Cameron Munster (Queensland) out for the entire series with hamstring and groin injuries respectively.

Overall, Queensland have more of their stars available than the injury-hit Blues, who also had Dylan Edwards go down with a hamstring injury over the weekend.

All of that considered, the Queenslanders are going in the strongest.

The Blues will take on the Maroons at 10.05 tonight.
