48 farmers from Abaca Village in Vuda, Lautoka, had the opportunity to learn more about organic farming and using the available resources grown around their community to improve the quality of their land.
The training was conducted by FRIEND Fiji staff Melaia Salacakau and Eloni Seru, who delivered hands-on demonstrations on pest management mixtures and soil improvement practices using the available resources grown around the community.
The training also covered topics such as soil improvement practices, pest management, organic standards, healthy soil and food and the importance of having a backyard garden at Abaca Village.
The project is being delivered under the Indigenous Food System Solution Lab, supported by the Rockefeller Foundation.
