Farmers from Navunisole village in Tailevu will soon have better access to their farms and marketplace after the construction of a 1.5 km farm road which will begin in 3 weeks time.
This was assured by the Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Mahendra Reddy during a Talanoa Session with Navunisole farmers.
Dr. Reddy says the construction of more farm roads for the farmers will not only give them better access to their farms but it will also motivate them to increase their production.
He also reiterated that improvement in rural roads are expected to generate new opportunities for farmers which will lead to the growth of the country’s economy through agricultural development.
Navunisole Village headman Joeli Kalounivalu says the new farm road will allow farmers to have better access to the market as transportation of agricultural produce from the farm to the market is a constraint faced by farmers from the village in past years.
Currently about 15 acres of land is used for yaqona and dalo farming by fifteen farmers who are using horses as means of transportation to take their produce to the market.
