A family who went to Vunitogoloa Village in Rakiraki for Christmas is hoping that the weather can calm down so they can return to their home.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Kinisimere Votu says they celebrated Christmas with her family at her village in Vunitogoloa, but due to the recent weather, they are stuck.
She says there was heavy rain from last night to this morning, and their crossing is underwater, and also floodwaters have entered the village.
Votu says floodwaters have entered some homes, and they have been cut off from accessing essential services such as health.
She is urging the authorities to look into the issue of dredging, as this has been happening for the past years.
Meanwhile, Rakiraki Town is currently underwater.
