The sister of one of the five men who disappeared from a fishing boat in Fiji in mysterious circumstances earlier this year, says a lack of information from authorities is compounding her grief.
Salote Raluve, the sister of Qiritivabea Cagilabakomeli who was one of the five men who vanished from the Fijian-flagged longliner FV Tiro II in late May, spoke to ABC Radio saying they still do not know what happened.
She says losing a family member is a bad experience and not knowing exactly what caused the death causes more pain.
With three months passed, Raluve says police have not provided her family with any update of their investigation.
She adds they are still investigating the case and nothing has been confirmed to them.
Meanwhile, Police say their investigation is still ongoing.
The incident occurred in May this year about 90 miles west of Navula Passage outside of Momi Bay, where six crew members from the vessel FV Tiro II jumped overboard due to an alleged incident on the vessel.
One person survived on board a life-raft, while the other five were missing at sea as they jumped overboard without life jackets.
The Fiji Navy with the assistance of the Royal New Zealand Air Force aircraft, rescued the one onboard a life-raft.
Two other survivors, both Fijians who had remained on board the distressed Fiji flagged vessel were picked up by a partner fishing vessel Sam Weon 11.
Police had also earlier confirmed that they were also investigating allegations of a murder that occurred on the local fishing vessel.
