A family had to relocate from their Savusavu home to Suva more than a year ago to get their 14-year-old son treated who is suffering from cancer.
Mother Sumintra Wati said in early 2010 her son started to complain about a pain in his left leg and had headaches after which several tests were conducted in August when they found out that he had cancer.
Wati said when they moved to Suva they were staying at a relative's house however they decided to move out when consultants told them that her son's chemotherapy would take at least more than a year.
According to Wati the reason why they moved out and rented a flat was that they did not want to become a burden on anyone.
She said they try their best everyday to fulfill the wishes of their son who also turns 15 in eleven days time.
The 34-year-old added that they also have to send money back to their younger son who lives with her parents in Savusavu.
40-45 children are diagnosed with cancer in Fiji every year and at least 20 children are admitted at the CWM children's cancer ward.
A nationwide appeal will be held this Saturday.
The WOWS Walk will take place from the Vodafone Arena to Suva Grammar and back to the arena at 7am Saturday.
If you want to make donations, the Westpac Suva CFL appeal account number is 9800 935 794.
You can also drop by at the home of Fijivillage here at 231 Waimanu Road between now and this Saturday to make your donations.
The CFL family from Legend FM, FM96, Viti FM, Navtarang and Radio Sargam will be based at locations nationwide this Saturday collecting funds for children living with cancer.
