A family that was affected in a fire at the Suva Muslim League settlement in Nabua on Wednesday has lost everything.
Anil Kamal, his wife Asena Atira and their five-year-old daughter are now living with their in-laws.
Kamal says they will now start from scratch.
33-year-old Nirmal Singh who owns one of the houses that was destroyed in the fire has moved in with his neighbour.
Singh who is a father of four says they are currently using one room at their neighbour’s house.
They now desperately need urgent assistance.
The six families who had lost their homes in the fire at the Suva Muslim League settlement in Nabua were visited by members of the Rotary Club Peninsula Sunset led by lawyer, Barbara Malimali and also members of the National Federation Party led by Professor Biman Prasad yesterday.
NFP Leader Biman Prasad says they wanted to provide immediate relief to the families that were affected.
Prasad and NFP officials met four families that were affected while the other two are currently staying with their relatives.
The affected families received $150 each and have also been assisted by their neighbours with accommodation, they also received blankets, towels, stoves and clothes.
He adds that he hopes the families will be receiving more assistance not only from the communities but also from the government.
The investigation into the fire is still underway.
