The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre is holding a candlelight vigil this afternoon to remember the women who have lost their lives to domestic violence this year.
The vigil will be held at the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Office in Suva at 5 o’clock today.
According to the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre, eight women in Fiji have lost their lives to domestic violence this year.
As of June this year, there have been 295 cases of domestic violence in Fiji within 180 days.
In Fiji, 64% of women experience intimate partner violence.
According to Fiji Women Right Movement 2017 research, it takes women over 2.5 years to report their issues of violence.
