FRU trying to secure sponsorship for 2021 Skipper Cup competition
Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor says the sponsorship for the Skipper Cup competition expired last year.
O’Connor highlighted this after the Fiji Rugby Union Special General Meeting today.
He says they are continuing discussions with CJ Patel for the competition and hope to finalise the negotiations in the coming weeks. He says the competition will continue with 8 teams including Northland and Rewa this season.
O’Connor says the Skipper Cup competition will start on the 10th of April.
The CEO says they will maintain the current format of the domestic and provincial competitions which includes the Skipper Cup.
O’Connor says Rewa will be the first challenge for the Farebrother Cup followed by Naitasiri if Nadi retains the Cup.
He says Yasawa and Lautoka have been demoted to the Vodafone Vanua Cup competition.
