The Fiji Rugby Union is now waiting on the test results of the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team before a decision is made on their participation in the Malaga 7s.
FRU CEO John O’Connor says the players were tested yesterday and they are expecting the results by tomorrow.
O’Connor says if everyone is cleared then they will be looking at possible flights to Spain.
World Rugby has said that the men’s national 7s team still has a slim chance of playing in the placement matches of the Malaga 7s if they are cleared on time however the Fijiana will miss out.
World Rugby says both sides will not be replaced and opponents in their respective group matches will receive three points for a “bye” match and a score of nil-all will be recorded.
The Malaga 7s will also kick off on Friday while the placement matches will begin at 4.20am Sunday.
