The Fiji Rugby Union is looking at starting a local 7s series in December which will have a format similar to the HSBC 7s Series.
FRU CEO, John O'Connor says they are looking at having four tournaments and they are considering having 16 men’s and 8 women’s teams.
This is being done to help the Fiji 7s team remain competitive as there will be no World Rugby 7s tournaments until the Hong Kong 7s in April.
O’Connor says they are currently negotiating the sponsorship details and working out the logistics.
He adds currently the plan is to allow the 7s players to play for their respective clubs in the local tournaments.
