It is unfortunate that Fiji Under 20 player, Pasikali Naevo passed away a few days after feeling dizzy during a training session but we need to find out the circumstances surrounding his death.
Those are the words of Fiji Rugby Union Chairman, Commander Humphrey Tawake.
He says while there has been a lot of speculation, Pasikali was not in camp and had travelled daily to attend training with the Under 20 squad.
Tawake says Pasikali spent 20 minutes in training and felt dizzy so he was taken to Namaka Health Centre and then to Lautoka Hospital.
The FRU Chairman says that is based on his report but they are conducting a full investigation if all the proper procedures were followed.
He also says Pasikali did not collapse twice as claimed by some relatives.
fijivillage News also questioned the FRU Chairman if proper health screening is done for players before they enter the programs as concerns have been raised that some players may get into elite programs without knowing they have pre-existing conditions.
He says they will explore the wider health screening options now.
Pasikali was the son of former Flying Fijian Api Naevo.
He also played for the Natabua Under 18 team in the Vodafone Deans Trophy Competition.
