The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and the Land Transport Authority have signed on a Memorandum of Understanding that will see all vehicle-related taxation transactions take place at LTA.
FRCS CEO Visvanath Das says all taxation transactions that happen or transactions that are impacted by taxation, particularly the stamp duty of motor vehicles, can now be done at LTA.
He says they are empowering LTA officers to administer and collect stamp duty on their behalf so that there is no running down to FRCS offices as that can now happen at LTA.
LTA CEO Samuel Simpson says that through this MOU, it will be the first time joint operations between the FRCS officials and LTA enforcement officials will take place where they will be cracking down on illegal taxis.
He adds that people will see vehicle checks points that will be manned by FRCS and LTA where they will be targeting illegal Public Service Vehicles.
