FRA to conduct construction work for Nadi Town traffic layout change

The Fiji Roads Authority will be carrying out Local Area Traffic Management trials in the Nadi Town area aimed at alleviating traffic congestion.

They say this to facilitate the trials and FRA's contractor will undertake demolition and reconstruction works on existing structures within Nadi Town area to facilitate the required re-designed traffic flow layout.

As part of the trial, all the traffic signals within the town area will also be temporary turned off.

Demolition and Reconstruction Period is from the 23rd of November 2024 to 8th of December 2024 while New Layout Trial Period is from the 8th of December 2024 to the 8th of March 2025.

Executive Chairman, Atunaisa Nayago says the traffic on the Queens Road (Main Street) will be reverted to a single lane two-way traffic flow.

Andrews Road and Raniga Street: Both roads to become single lane two-way traffic flow.

Naitavo Lane: The direction of traffic to be reversed to optimize traffic flow. Single lane one-way traffic flow.

Sahu Khan Lane, Clay Street, and Market Lane: These roads will remain one-way. Single lane one-way traffic flow.

Baker Lane and Vunavau Lane: The direction of travel on both lanes will be reversed to optimize traffic flow. Heavy Vehicles: Restricted from accessing Nadi Town’s main street but can access through Andrews street, Raniga Street and Ratu Naevo Road.

They are advising drivers to be aware of these changes and to follow all posted temporary signs while navigating through Nadi Town.
