The Fiji Roads Authority is seeking expressions of interest for the demolition of the old Rewa Bridge in Nausori considering public safety and mitigating adverse environmental impact.
Chief Executive Officer Kamal Prasad says the old bridge has deteriorated and is beyond repair.
He says the old Rewa Bridge has reached a stage which represents a risk to the public and may partially collapse without warning and restoring the bridge would be an expensive option.
He says demolishing the old bridge is the only viable course of action for the FRA in order to prevent an uncontrolled collapse of the structure.
