The Fiji Roads Authority has begun the construction of the 14km Matokana Village access Road which is in the mountainous range of Nadroga/ Navosa region.
FRA Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Moore says that the works are progressing well and is expected to be completed by December.
75-year-old, Paulina Buki of Matokana, says that she is happy to witness a long awaited dream become a reality.
Buki says that in the past they have to trek for several hours through the mountainous terrain in order to get to the village.
She adds that she is happy that with the construction of the road their lives will become much more easier and they will finally be connected to other villages.
