Father of two, Moiz Chaudhary from Sigatoka, won a gold medal today after graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Fiji National University at the Vodafone Arena.
He dedicated his medal to his late father who died a few weeks ago from a heart complication.
Chaudhary says his parents pushed him to excel in his studies.
He says he took his father to India for treatment but he passed away few weeks ago upon their arrival.
Chaudhary says he is currently teaching at Sigatoka Methodist Primary School but is on a study leave for his Masters in Research with the FNU, which he is proud of.
The primary school teacher says his wife is also studying at FNU and they are both motivated to reach their pinnacle at the university.
He says juggling being a teacher and a father to a 2-year-old son and a 7-month-old daughter was challenging but through a strong support system, he has managed to overcome all odds.
Chaudhary says the gold medal came as a surprise to him because he was not aware and sure if he had done too well to receive it but he was confident all his hard work would pay off.
He is encouraging other students to study hard, dream big and study at FNU.
He has thanked the university staff and lecturers for supporting him throughout his academic journey.
