The Fiji National University campus in Samabula will now be known as FNU Derrick Campus.
Officially unveiling the name this morning, Minister for Education Filipe Bole said the reason why they are renaming the campus is in memory of Ronald Albert Derrick who has given so much to the technical education in the then Fiji Institute of Technology.
Bole said the name Derrick may not mean much to those who are studying at FNU today but it has a long historical connection with the school in the area of technical and vocational training.
According to Bole, Derrick's vision for the then technical institute was to train and produce people with skills and technical knowledge who will contribute to the physical development of the country.
