The Fiji National Provident Fund is finalizing the legal and the IT aspects of the process to get children as young as six years old to be able to have an FNPF account.
This has been confirmed by the General Manager Member Services of FNPF Alipate Waqairawai who says that this is expected to come into effect as early as December.
Waqairawai says under the FNPF Act, members are allowed to start having an account from as young 6‑years‑old.
He also states that FNPF members are encouraged to deposit money on their own apart from the normal deductions that are made by their employers.
Waqairawai also stated that 73% of FNPF members have balances of $10,000 and below which is a worry.
