The Fiji Labour Party is mourning the passing away of its President and prominent Suva lawyer, Anand Kumar Singh.
71-year-old Singh passed away at the Middlemore Hospital in Auckland this morning.
Singh was the Attorney General in the Labour-led Coalition government of 1999 and was among Ministers of the government held hostage at gunpoint in Parliament following the coup of 19th May 2000. He was released after being held captive for 56 days.
Singh took over as Party President a year ago.
