The Fijian Elections Office will be carrying out their Nationwide Voter Registration and Awareness Drive from the 25th of February to the 2nd of April this year.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says the drive will be an opportunity for every eligible voter to register and access voter services.
Saneem says they are taking the service to the voters and to ensure that no one is left behind.
He says the FEO undertakes this major drive before every election to prepare voters to be able to register and cast a valid vote on election day.
Saneem says adequate voter education and awareness must be done to ensure that every Fijian voter has enough information that enables him or her to turn up to the correct polling venue and cast a valid vote.
The Supervisor has also congratulated the 183 participants for completing the Voter Registration and Awareness Assistants Training across the 4 divisions.
Saneem says the FEO has invested resources into their training and they expect the highest level of professionalism and respect from each of them when they are on the field representing the Elections Office.
He says every Fijian must be given the best service and every vote is valuable.
Saneem has reminded the participants that they will be visiting schools, settlements, villages as well as urban centres, interacting with voters of all ages and backgrounds.
He says to the average voter, these trainers will be the face of the FEO and the responsibility will be upon them to project themselves as good ambassadors of the Office.
Saneem has also reminded them that the FEO is an independent election management body and they need people with the highest level of integrity who can come and carry out their responsibilities without fear or favor.
He adds as election draws closer there will be all sort of misinformation and there may be questions raised but the trainers must remain committed to the task they have been assigned with.
He says the voter awareness by FEO will also assist voters to filter information on elections and allow a voter to reject misinformation.
