In an effort to raise funds as well as do a blood drive, the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji started a walk-a-thon around Viti Levu last Saturday from Suva.
Twenty eight participants will be walking the 475 kilometers around Viti Levu by Tuesday next week.
FENC Fiji financial controller Priya Lata says the response from the public has been very positive where people are coming out of their houses and drivers are also stopping to donate.
Lata says they started walking at 5am this morning from Olosara, Sigatoka and their target for today is to reach Yako in Nadi.
She adds despite walking for the last three days, the team’s spirit is still high.
The theme for this walk-a-thon is Walk Against NCD’s and the sub theme is Fenc Fiji Walk For Child’s Health and Education.
Lata says they have partnered with Ministry of Health and Fiji Mountaineering & Climbing Association for this fundraising event.
