The Fiji Electricity Authority has confirmed that they will be carrying out maintenance works on its 132,000 volts Cunningham substation this weekend.
In a press conference this afternoon, FEA CEO Hasmukh Patel says FEA engineers will be changing circuit breakers that have been used for 35 years.
Patel says the works will be carried out from 10pm Saturday to 8am Sunday.
He says power supply will not be disrupted as they will be using diesel generators throughout this period.
FEA is expected to carry out similar works on its 132,000 volts power lines in Vuda, the following weekend.
Patel says the maintenance work is likely to cost over $1 million.
FEA has also apologized for the power outage yesterday, as there was a lightning strike on one of the Wailoa to Suva power lines.
