FCOSS Director Vani Catanasiga

The Fiji Council of Social Services has commended the Government for increasing the social protection and social services budget as it will assist the vulnerable in society, the poor, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and children.

FCOSS Director Vani Catanasiga says they are thankful to the Government for hearing their plea.

She says one of their main submissions was to increase the social pension to the elderly as some of them are carers.

Catanasiga says the previous allocation was not enough.

Catanasiga also commended the Government for setting up the Department of Children who will look into issues affecting our children such as loitering, drugs, and increase in the number of street kids.
