The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is currently undertaking a market assessment of the public transport industry to review the FCCC Control of Fares and Charges for Public Service Vehicles Order 2020.
FCCC says this review includes an assessment on the current level of competition, socio-economic environment, policies for these rates and the views, comments and suggestions of the public in Fiji and establish whether there is a need to continue with price regulation in the public transport sector.
They are saying prior to making the appropriate recommendations to the Minister of Transport Ro Filipe Tuisawau, FCCC wishes to undertake consultations with interested parties who are likely to be affected by any action or decision on the future regulation of domestic shipping services in Fiji.
