The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has found some fuel companies engaging in behaviour which could amount to hoarding, under the guise of technical difficulties.
FCCC CEO, Joel Abraham says businesses caught fuel hoarding will be charged and fined.
Abraham says hoarding is strictly against the law.
He says their teams are currently on the ground in all three major divisions carrying out inspections and are actively on the lookout for cases of hoarding.
Abraham says the FCCC does not and cannot control the factors that determine the prices of fuel products and LPG in international markets however, their inspection teams will be out monitoring and inspecting for compliance over the next few days.
