The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has congratulated the new Government and looks forward to working together with the various Ministers to ensure that fair trade, consumer rights protection, and the issuance of authorisations and approvals by way of licenses for the provision of goods and services are upheld in the nation.

FCCC CEO, Joel Abraham says they welcome the statement given by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for External Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs, Manoa Kamikamica, that Fijians should expect consistency in policies and that collaboration and consultation will be conducted before any policy change or taxation is introduced.

He says this approach allows for transparency and accountability in the policy-making process.

Abraham says these policies directly affect all Fijians who have the right to be informed about the decisions that will or will not affect their pockets.

He adds the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, has also stressed that the Ministry of Finance will hold consultations and dialogues with the business community and other stakeholders in the country.

The CEO says Prasad also said there is no need to panic as they will work to ensure that the interest of every Fijian is well looked after.

He adds that he believes in the philosophy of working together and consultation.

Abraham says that FCCC is an independent regulator and that they are looking forward to working with the new Government to ensure consumer rights are protected, and markets remain sustainable.
