It was an extra ordinary Diwali celebration for the students of Suva Special School as staff of Digicel Fiji treated them to a special Diwali feast.
Digicel staff collected money and with the help of the company they provided lunch for the 80 students of Suva Special School.
Head Teacher Rosie Balewai says this was timely as the spirit of Diwali symbolizes love, unity and togetherness.
Speaking at the celebration, the Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Veena Bhatnagar said that every child in Fiji grows up with a sense of excitement about Diwali.
Bhatnagar says Diwali is a reminder to us that it is our responsibility to look out for each other and see beyond race, gender, religion, age and abilities and do what is right.
She says the story of Diwali highlights family unity, togetherness, good values and justice.
