Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says people can expect to be stopped and questioned at checkpoints now erected throughout the country as they will be limiting unnecessary movement of people over the next 48 hour period.

Qiliho says people need to understand that they must treat everyone as a COVID-19 carrier.

He says the increased number of checkpoints will closely monitor movement and those who are found to be moving around with out any valid reason will be sent back to their homes.

Qiliho says this applies to those who are driving around without any purpose such as getting to a supermarket or market to get supplies or to get to work.

The Police Commissioner further says those driving around for no reason but for a joy ride and sightseeing will be sent back, and failure to adhere will result in their arrest.

He reiterates those found loitering will be arrested.

Qiliho says if people do not have any reason to be out of their house then stay home or face arrest.

He adds their strict measures are not to be confused for a 24 hour curfew, but they are limiting unnecessary movement of those who still cannot fully comprehend the seriousness of the situation we are in.
