As category 3 Tropical Cyclone Kevin is moving East-Southeast and expected to track Southwest of Fiji group, expect continuous heavy rain and strong winds in the Western Division from Sigatoka to Rakiraki and the Northern Division including Macuata and Bua provinces.
The Weather Office says a heavy rain warning remains for areas over Yasawa and Mamanuca waters, Vatulele, Kadavu and the Northern parts of the group.
A strong wind warning remains in place for the land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Northwestern Viti Levu, Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, Nadi, Kadavu, Vatulele and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups and Bua province, and is now in force for Northern and Northwestern Vanua Levu, Labasa to Udu Point.
As TC Kevin passes to the South of Fiji group, gail force winds may be experienced in the Southern parts of Fiji waters while rain bands and a trough of low pressure associated with the system is expected to sweep over the group.
Flash flood alerts or warnings are expected to be issued tomorrow as heavy rain is expected to begin from this afternoon.
The cyclone is not expected to track directly over Fiji.
TC Kevin is expected to make landfall in Vanuatu sometime today and is also expected to intensify to category 4 when it moves to the Southern part of Vanuatu.
