Former All Black stars Dan Carter, Brodie Retallick and Andy Ellis were thankful that their Japanese club didn't leave them stranded and gave them their marching orders a fortnight ago.
While foreigners at other clubs had to stay in Japan after the Top League domestic competition stopped because of coronavirus, the Kobelco Steelers club granted the trio permission to return to New Zealand.
That ensured them getting back to New Zealand before the 14-day self-isolation rule was introduced and to help prepare Their family for the four-week lock-down.
