“Everyone needs to be loved and accepted.”
Those were the words of Malakai Gucake who lost his 17 year old younger brother in 2010 to suicide.
Gucake who is a student at Young Peoples Department in Davuilevu made a presentation last night at the World Suicide Prevention Day, and openly shared his story.
Gucake said he is willing to help other youths.
Meanwhile, Police statistics revealed that 80 cases of suicide and 83 cases of attempted suicide have been reported to Police from January to August this year.
Police Commissioner Brigadier General Iowane Naivalurua said it is extremely worrying that most suicide cases arise from an issue that could have easily been resolved through dialogue.
