Studies have shown that for every dollar invested in sports, there is a return of $20 and these returns come in the form of economic growth, job creation and the promotion of tourism.
This has been shared by Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru while opening the 2025 Coca-Cola Games.
Saukuru says the Coca Cola Games is more than a game, as sports promotes good health, mental strength and gender equality, and it teaches students to win with humility and lose with grace, and also brings people together from all walks of life.
He acknowledged the media partners, parents and guardians and sponsors of the event.
Saukuru says it’s a historic moment as they mark the 50th anniversary of empowering young people in sports which has become the biggest games for Fiji and the Pacific.
He says the Coke Games is a good launching pad building greater athletes to represent Fiji in the future in any forms of sports.
Saukuru says the students are the heart beat of the event and they are ambassadors of the sport and of the nation as they take part today.
He reminded the athletes that the government will continue to invest in programs that nurture talents and see the growth in the students.
