The Fiji Roads Authority says the Ellington Wharf in Rakiraki will now be fully operational from next Thursday.
CEO, Jonathan Moore says the closure of the wharf has been extended to remove the hidden obstruction and to implement construction that will protect the temporary structure from the same failure.
Moore says they have completed their assessments and are working to ensure accessibility with a plan being developed for a long term solution.
He says their assessments indicate that a considerable amount of damage has been caused to the wharf when ships collide with the ramp whilst berthing.
Moore is urging shipping companies to improve their mooring practice to avoid further damages to their assets.
The repair works on the wharf commenced on the 30th last month and are expected to be completed by next Wednesday.
